Calling all skilled guitar players... help?
I'm 15 years old and i've been playing guitar and taking lessons for almost a year now. I stumbled upon this guitar scales site but i'm not sure how to work it. I want to learn major scales because i play alot of western/country music. The site says there is a scale for every chord but it also has different patterns. Than below this it says: vertical patterns, horizontal (4 notes per string) etc. Could any of you tell me how to use this site and learn the scales. Should i only learn 1 pattern per chord. How do i use this.
the link is here: http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php
o.k to simplify that site for you. click on the pentatonic minor scale in the key of A. it will show you the scale and all the notes on you fret board. it can also break the scale into 5 scale patterns. it will also show you the connecting runs. first learn that scale in A minor. then learn it in A major. learn each scale pattern. you will find that you are only learning 5 patterns. and to change from a minor key to a major key you only start in a different spot. the same goes for when you learn the modes. ionian aeolian etc. if you have more questions just email.
