Learn to Play Guitar - Start with an Easy Guitar Song
If you are a Guitar Hero game player, you might be ready to actually learn to play a real guitar? The guitar hero game is fun, but it doesn’t teach you to play the guitar. You might be thinking you would like to become a guitar player and get that same rush by playing the guitar or performing in a band.
Ironically, it takes "work" to "play" at guitar - but as you get better, it feels more like "play" than "work". Then, after you’ve learned to play some chords and you’ve learned a song or two, the fun starts. At least, that is how it was for me when I started to take guitar lessons (when I was ten)! I learned to play some chords that you can use for many songs. That is a good way to start – you’ll feel that you accomplished something. If you learn three basic chords such as G, C, and D. When I learned to play guitar, I had a guitar teacher and used some guitar chord books. But that was before the Internet (I know - a long time ago) and today there are so many other options to find guitar lessons for beginners. There are some good guitar lesson videos online. Some things never change - learning an easy song is a quick way to get started. After you learn one song, you'll learn the next few songs faster and easier!
What should you look for in a guitar?
Lots of beginning guitar players start with an acoustic guitar and many start with what is considered a classical guitar. This article talks about kinds of guitars. A basic difference between those two types of guitars is the kind of strings - acoustic guitars have steel strings and classical (or folk) guitars have nylon strings. A guitar with steel strings can be restrung with nylon strings at first - because the nylon strings don't hurt your fingers as much!
There are benefits to learning to play on either kind of guitar. Students who are definitely planning to play rock and roll usually start with electric guitar lessons. Decide what kind of music you want to play and get the right kind of guitar - or start with an acoustic guitar (they are good to learn to play guitar).
Go buy a guitar, if you don't have one. Make sure you hear what the guitar you think you want sounds like. If you are looking at guitars in a store, get someone there to play the guitar for you. When you go to a guitar store, take a friend who plays guitar with you. So, start learning your first guitar song. You will become your own guitar hero!
